Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how Island Clinical Supervision works, what to expect after you enroll, and how to get help if you need it.

What is Island Clinical Supervision?

Island Clinical Supervision is a structured supervision membership platform built specifically for prelicensed clinicians in Hawaiʻi pursuing LMHC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure.

Instead of piecing together supervision on your own, you get a guided experience that includes scheduling, hour tracking, documentation support, and access to a licensed supervisor, all in one place.

Who is this for?

This platform is built for prelicensed mental health professionals in Hawaiʻi who have completed their graduate degree and are working toward LMHC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure.

If you are in your post-graduate supervision window and need a structured, reliable way to accumulate your required hours, this is designed for you.

Are sessions compliant with Hawaiʻi DCCA requirements?

Yes. Supervision is structured to align with Hawaiʻi DCCA board requirements for LMHC, LMFT, and LCSW licensure, including group size limits and individual hour thresholds specific to each track.

That said, each supervisee is responsible for confirming their own licensure requirements and ensuring their chosen pathway aligns with current board standards.

Are sessions virtual?

Yes. All supervision sessions are conducted virtually through Zoom. You will need a Zoom account to participate.

What types of supervision are offered?

Depending on your track and membership tier, you may have access to individual supervision, group supervision, or both. Each track page outlines exactly what is included at each tier so you know what you are signing up for before you enroll.

Is documentation provided for licensure application?

Yes. Supervisees receive documentation and hour verification support in line with board requirements and the structure of their supervision relationship.

What happens after I enroll?

After enrollment you will receive onboarding instructions, access to your member dashboard, and guidance on next steps. This includes your supervision agreement, scheduling instructions, and access to your protected member area.

Is there a supervision agreement?

Yes. All supervisees sign a formal supervision agreement as part of enrollment. It covers expectations around confidentiality, scheduling, billing, documentation, and compliance responsibilities.

Are supervisors licensed and in good standing?

Yes. Supervision is provided by licensed clinicians in good standing with the State of Hawaiʻi who meet board requirements to supervise qualified candidates. Supervisor licenses are verified every six months.

Supervisees are also encouraged to independently confirm supervisor eligibility as part of their own licensure process.

How does scheduling work?

Once you are enrolled and have access to your member dashboard, you will find scheduling instructions there. Sessions are booked through a scheduling tool that may open in a separate tab. Everything you need to get there is inside your dashboard.

If you are ever unsure which session type to book, reach out through support before scheduling.

How are hours tracked?

Completed sessions are logged by your supervisor. You are also strongly encouraged to track your own hours independently, including session type and date, throughout your licensure window.

If anything looks off in your hours log, contact support right away.

Can I choose my supervisor?

Supervisor assignment depends on your track, current availability, and supervisor qualifications. In most cases you will be guided to the right supervisor during onboarding.

What if a supervisor is full?

If capacity is full, you may be placed on a waitlist or guided toward another qualified supervisor. Contact us before assuming availability either way.

Can I switch tracks or tiers later?

Possibly. Changes depend on availability, fit, and where you are in your billing cycle. If you think a change makes sense, reach out to support first before making any assumptions about timing or cost.

Can I cancel or reschedule a session?

Yes, within the cancellation and rescheduling rules in effect at the time of booking.

What if I run into a technical issue?

Start with support rather than troubleshooting on your own. A clear description of the issue and a screenshot if possible will help get it resolved faster.

Am I still responsible for understanding board requirements?

Yes. Island Clinical Supervision is structured to support compliance, but each supervisee is ultimately responsible for understanding their own licensure path, hour requirements, and board deadlines.

Where do I go if I need help?

Current members and supervisors should use the support page inside their dashboard. If you are not yet enrolled and have general questions, use the public contact page.
